Wonder Birds
One of my surprises was finding dramatic bird pictures in down town Wasilla Alaska’s Wonderland Park. Every once in awhile the light and reflections are just too cool. This collection is a few those amazing moments.
He Went That Way!
While photographing ducks at Wasilla's Wonderland Park, I was hoping to capture a little action as they stretched their wings.
Then this duck struck a pose.
For a split second, the outstretched wing looked less like a wing and more like a finger pointing across the lake. I hear a cartoon voice saying, "He went that way!"
We liked it so much that we turned it into a sticker and used it on directional signs at a gallery show.
Dance With Me
The reflections here were too perfect.
When I saw the mirrored image, balanced inside the ripple circles, this photograph seemed to say, "Play with me."
So I turned it on its side.
Suddenly I wasn't looking at a duck and its reflection anymore. I was looking at two dancers suspended in a circle of light.
Are You Thirsty Too
More reflections …
As this mallard stopped for a drink, its bill met a perfect reflection in a circle of rippling water. For a moment, it looked as though two identical ducks had arrived at the same place at exactly the same time.
I couldn't help imagining the surprise.
"Hello... are you thirsty too?"
